Western Missouri Medical Center was founded on July 31, 1963, as Johnson County Memorial Hospital. After over 20 years of expansion and growth, JCMH became Western Missouri Medical Center on January 1, 1986.

Darinda was named President/CEO by the WMMC Board of Trustees on Feb. 26, 2016.
She joined WMMC as Vice President of Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) in October 2013. During her tenure as CNO, she successfully led efforts for WMMC receiving national certifications through The Joint Commission in Normal Delivery and Bariatric Surgery by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program. In addition, Darinda led numerous initiatives to improve patient satisfaction and financial stability.
With over 20 years of diverse clinical nursing experience and proven success at leading and transitioning cultural change, Darinda has served in a variety of leadership capacities at healthcare facilities including HCA Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO; Truman Medical Center Lakewood in Kansas City, MO; and St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Kansas City, MO.
Darinda earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Central Missouri and her Master’s of Science in Executive Nursing Leadership from Webster University.
Dean Ohmart, Vice President of Financial Services/Chief Financial Officer
Dean Ohmart was named WMMC’s Vice President of Financial Services/Chief Financial Officer in June 2017.
With over thirty-five years of progressive accounting experience in multi-site locations, Dean has held various leadership roles throughout his career. Prior to WMMC, Dean worked with Coffeyville Regional Medical Center as CFO in 2014 – 2017. Prior to that role, Dean was the CFO at Ransom Memorial Hospital (RMH) and ended the last 10 years of his 13-year career there with over $2 million dollars in Operations Profit. With Dean’s leadership and expertise, RMH received over $10,000,000 in Medicaid DSH payments. Furthermore, the Accounts Receivable was reduced from over 100 days to less than 60 days and the hospital operated with no-long term debt. Dean graduated Summa Cum Laude from Fort Hays State University where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration.
Dean has a passion for developing the financial capabilities of the hospital leaders to garner overall financial success for organizations. His leadership, passion and financial experience will prove to be an asset to our medical center’s mission and vision.
Jennifer Koepke, RN, MHSA, Vice President of Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer
Jennifer Koepke was named Vice President of Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer in March 2016.
Jennifer has been a part of the WMMC team since February 2005, with a stellar record of leadership and quality improvement initiatives. She has served in many leadership capacities within the medical center, including Director of Quality/Risk Management, Quality Pillar Council Chair and Interim Chief Nursing Officer from September 2015 – March 2016.
Jennifer has over 20 years of clinical experience and has served in a variety of leadership capacities, including St. Mary’s Medical Center in Russellville, AR; and Conway Regional Medical Center in Conway, AR. Her career includes nursing experience in Surgical, Cardiac and Critical Care as well as Quality Risk Management in healthcare.
Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, AR, and a Master in Health Services Administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She has been a Certified Professional of Healthcare Quality since 2004.
Renee Twenter was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer and Compliance Officer on Oct. 11, 2019.
Renee graduated with a major in nursing and a minor in accounting. She also completed her masters of business administration in 2010. She became a nurse in 1988 and served in various leadership capacities before serving as a regional administrator overseeing five agencies for First American Home Care in 1994. She came to WMMC in 1997 as a staff OB nurse, where she progressed into leadership roles as director of obstetrics, interim vice president of patient care services/chief nursing officer, women and children’s service line director, and most recently as the ambulatory services and outreach executive.
Renee has been a part of the WMMC team for more than 22 years, with extensive experience as a results-driven leader who is dedicated to making WMMC our region’s choice for health care. Highlights from her career include overseeing The Joint Commission (TJC) for Hospital Accreditation and Certification for Normal Delivery of Newborns Gold Seal of Approval®. WMMC was one of only four hospitals in the country to be accredited at that point. Additionally, she led the Revenue Cycle Improvement Team since its launch in February 2019, which to date, has increased revenue by $3.6 million. She also oversaw the transition to move all primary care clinics under the Blue Cross Blue Shield Patient-Centered Medical Home model.
